View the SourceQuestions About Video Files
Why won’t a video play?
Glance plays video with your browser’s or Windows’ own codecs. A file in a format they don’t support, such as some MKV files, shows a message instead.
Is Glance's Video viewer free?
Yes. Glance is free and open source under the Apache 2.0 licence, with no account, adverts or watermarks.
Are my Video files uploaded anywhere?
No. Glance opens files on your own device, in your browser or in the Windows app. Nothing is sent to a server, so it is safe for private documents.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Install Glance from your browser (Add to Home Screen on a phone) and it opens files with no internet connection.
Can I open Video files on iPhone, Android or Mac?
Yes. The browser version works in Safari, Chrome, Edge and Firefox on phones, tablets and computers. The Windows app adds Explorer thumbnails and opening files with a double-click.
